Venezuela: Strange Object Over Caracas

Venezuelan researcher Héctor Escalante has posted the following image online. "April 19th, government and opposition forces are marching in the streets of Caracas," he writes. "A very tense moment. Meanwhile, something strange flies across the skies of the Venezuelan capital."

A surveillance drone of some sort, or a bona-fide UFO? Theologian and author Salvador Freixedo always cautioned us that non-human intelligences obtained a form of noursihment from the energy put forth by large human concentrations, whether on the battlefield, the sporting arena or the streets of a city on the verge of riot.

Argentina: FAO Commemorates UFO Sites

A thoughtful initiative. Luis Burgos of the Fundación Argentina de Ovnilogía has posted a photograph of one of the plaques his organization is placing at UFO landmark locations throughout Argentina.

The one shown reads: "ZONE 72 - the noted strip of La Plata dubbed thus for the number of UFO cases reported since the 1950s". The initials of the FAO follow along with the date of the plaque.

Below we see: "4th ICOU (Investigadores de Campo OVNI) Acknowledgement in the country. If you are from La Plata, live nearby or visit the city, we have installed another acknowledgement plaque on a column located at 72nd and 19th Streets in Meridian V. It is one of many to be distributed throughout the country in recognition of the most emblematic sites in our nation's ufology."

Mexico: An Alleged UFO Recorded over Morelia

[NOTE: This object has been explained as drone.]

Morelia, Michoacán (MiMorelia.com/Newsroom) - The strange, circular black object was seen on March 27.

According to the user who captured the images, this odd black object with a circular configuration was seen this past March 27. "Iwill driving near the Morelia Technological Institute, I saw this UFO appear. The volume of traffic did not allow me to record it more extensively," explains Carlos Arriola in his video, which has even been added to a website dedicated to the study of paranormal phenomena and of this sort.

The reader has the last word.

[Actually, in this case, our colleague Claudio Mora of La Esfera Azul, who hails from the lovely city of Morelia, has looked into the case and assures us it merely a drone - a situation we are surely to encounter more and more often all over the world - SC]

Argentina: A Triangular UFO Over Entre Rios

Argentina: A Triangular UFO Over Entre Rios
By Andrea Pérez Simondini

TECHNICAL INFORMATION:
Location: Island region between Rosario (Santa Fe) and Victoria (Entre Rios)
Date of Sighting: December 2012
Time: 1:50
Witnesses: Pablo Sanchez and two friends
Object Type: Triangular or three lights
Flight Direction: East-West

The island region is a consistent source of sightings for all manner of luminous phenomena - aquatic, terrestrial and aerial alike. It is therefore not surprising for new reports to emerge from people engaging in fishing activities in the islands. We can state without hesitation that we receive hundreds of reports year after year. We ourselves have witnessed them many times from Cerro de la Matanza facing the river or from fields bordering Laguna del Pescado. No matter how extraordinary or unexplainable these reports may be, they remain anecdotal unless they are documented by some photograph.

A Video Recorded During a Fishing Trip to the "Entre Rios Islands"

Hundreds of photographs reach us accompanied by requests for their analysis or an opinion about them. We made a decision years ago to analyze no images (photographic or video) unless it comes from an eyewitness who has made the recording. This decision is due to matters of time and resources.

Finally, one message broke the pattern. It concerned an event in which the witnesses observed the maneuvers of an object and were able to videotape the experience.

"Good afternoon, Andrea. My name is Pablo and I am a native of the city of Rosario, Santa Fe. I have visited the islands area near my city for over 20 years. The reason for this message is to share an experience I had with a group of friends (2 friends and myself) during a fishing trip some years back, I believe around December 2010. We set out from the Henry Morgan boat basin in Rosario headed for the service canal that runs parallel to the route linking Rosario with Victoria. We followed this course up to 15 kilometers east of the toll.

"Our first experience took place around 1:50 a.m... We were anchored and fishing at the merger of the stream known as Boca de la Milonga and the lagoon into which it empties, which then becomes the canal that follows the route to Victoria. We were some 7 km from the toll when we saw a light heading east to west over the route or running parallel to it, at a distance of one kilometer.

"We thought it was an airplane, and since we all had very bright flashlights, we began pointing the beam of light at it. Of course, the airplane approached and its lights became brighter, as though illuminating us. At his point we were startled and wondered what that thing could be, becoming alert and defensive, to the extent that one of my friends reached for his sidearm.

The situation lasted some 10 seconds before the object changed direction after coming within one or two kilometers of us. What was odd is that it had red and green lights rotating around it, and had at least four of what seemed to be little portholes, casting amber light from the interior. It was very odd, since it made no noise whatsoever and appeared to float gently.

"I'd like to make clear that it was a starry, windless night with nothing that could cause any noise issued by the craft to drift. The fact is that we were stunned by the sight and began conjecturing.

"The craft vanished to the north after making a turn. I tried recording it with my cellphone but I don't know what happened. I was so nervous that I forgot to press the button or something. Immediately after I looked for the video but couldn't find it.

"After this event, we returned to the headwaters of the stream on the edge of Granadero Baigorria at the distillery crossing, and managed to make the recording with the cellphone. Between the 4th and 6th second one can see a triangular UFO that appears and disappears over the lights of the Rosario-Victoria bridge. I received some remarks from a family living in a building in Rosario facing the islands, and they saw lights moving in the island area that night."

The witness thought back to an earlier experience, which appears to be quite common in UFO witness accounts. We call it "the flash" or the "photograph from space". It's a bright light, like powerful burst of photo flash, but coming from the sky. This is his story: "The fact is that I was always interested in the UFO subject. I had a strange event in the islands with another of my friends. We were fishing on the shore of one of the islands at the entrance to Boca de la Lechiguanita, now called San Marcos. This was some years ago. The Rosario-Victoria Bridge was under construction and we suddenly saw a flash of light behind us, like someone taking a photo of us. Everything lit up for a second. It was odd because we were facing the river, and there was wilderness behind us, which should have dampened the light."

Colombia: Three Alleged UFOs Over Plata (Huila)

On March 3, 2017, starting at 3:00 p.m., a phenomenon was recorded over Plata (Huila) that left locals looking for answers. Three mysterious UFOs were sighted in the skies over the community. According to eyewitnesses, the objects remained static most of the time and as evening grew closer, they flew toward each other quickly until they vanished.

A witness to the event remarked: "Three unidentified flying vehicles remained static most of the afternoon until dusk, then flew quickly toward each other until they vanished," according to Lucas Martinez.

UFO sightings over Colombia are on the rise with many more cases reporting everything from small lights to possible structured craft flying over towns, municipalities and even some of the nation's cities.

Photos show white objects, clearly distant from the witnesses. A drawing depicts the manner in which the craft were described by witnesses.

Peru: A Dozen UFOs Suspend Flights in Peru's Jorge Chavez Airport

A flotilla of UFOs allegedly caused the suspension of flight operations at the Jorge Chávez Airport in El Callao (Perú). The sighting ocurred during the month of February, and what startled Peruvian ufologists is that the Corporación Peruana de Aeropuertos y Aviacion Comercial (CORPAC, Peruvian Airports and Commercial Aviation Corporation) recorded the incident in an official document.

With regard to the alleged sighting of the UFO flotilla in the Jorge Chavez Internationa Airport's airspace, ufologist Mario Zegarra says CORPAC filed official documents recording the incident, which hindered air oeprations that evening.

According to Zegarra, there are recordings capturing conversations between the control tower and those pilots unable to take off or land in the airport for at least three hours.

"The radar at Jorge Chavez captured 12 unidentified contacts on its screen, each identified with code 0000 for UFO," said Zegarra.

Another ufologist, Joshue Cornejo, says that a UFO was recorded at 7:38 that evening using night vision equipment. "These objects cannot be seen unaided," Cornejo noted, but can be captured on the infrared band."

UFO specialist Mario Zegarra will hold a conference on March 11th in Miraflores.

Chile: UFO Recorded at Puerto Varas During Military Air Show

Images were recorded at a FACH (Chilean Air Force) air show on February 10

Encounters with life on other planets appear to be increasingly closer and are coming to our country. Not long ago, a video recorded by a family in the Valparaíso region from an apartment terrace became widely known.

Now, images taken on February 10 at Puerto Varas, right in the middle of an air show by “Los Halcones” of the Chilean Air Force, are beginning to circulate.

The video shows how an alleged UFO appears as one of the airplanes engages in acrobatic maneuvers, very nearly causing a collision.

Spain: An 1897 UFO Over the Basque Country

Spain: An 1897 UFO Over the Basque Country

Before there was talk of UFOs, manifestations of luminous spheres in the heavens were a cause for consternation among people. This flying object was seen in the skies of La Llanada in the late 19th century.

The term UFO refers to an unidentified flying object and was coined in 1947 in the media. This acronym replaced "flying saucer". Some authors note that the ancient chariots of the gods, or the fiery chariot of the Biblical prophet Elijah, or manifestation and abductions and forests and swamps, could be the equivalent of the today's extraterrestrial presence. There is no proof of their existence, although many favor the extraterrestrial hypothesis.

Before the phenomenon gained notoriety, there were mysterious events in Alava that drew media attention. From March 3 to March 28, 1897, the 'El Anunciador Vitoriano' newspaper published a series of news items about the 'mysterious lights', describing how the 'simple peasants' of Yurre, Antezana and Lopidana, close to Vitoria, were 'concerned and even overwhelmed with fright by a mysterious light that appeared every night in the vicinity. Many residents of Vitoria visited the location nightly to catch a glimpse of the phenomenon.

The newspaper reported that 'a blood-colored luminous sphere would appear between Yurre and Lopidana at ground level, in the dark of night, making no perceptible sound, amid a distressing silence. The object gave off bright flashes, casting a sinister reddish glow against the tree trunks, the pavement of the road and all of the irregularities of the terrain. Smaller, paler light would break off from the light, wandering playfully through the air, or stopping on the tips of dry branches.'

The newspaper provides all manner of details and a truly poetic description: 'The mysterious light does not remain fixed to a given spot, but rather, with a slight waving motion, but never wavering from its given direction, it covers the distance between the point from which it emerged and the town of Otaza, near Estarrona, losing itself in the dense forests of that area." This forest was famous for its enormous trees which disappeared throughout the 20th century.

Another paragraph reads: "The luminous sphere has been seen by many, as it can be seen in the far distance. It so happens that a millwright came upon it on the road, flying over his wagon and filling him with terror. A curious townswoman, it is said, opened her window for a better look at the light, and shut it hurriedly upon seeing it was coming toward her."

It is evident that the authorities wish to avoid any public alarm, advising the peasantry that the phenomenon described could be the "will o' the wisp" produced by decomposing organic substances, and the fields along the Zadorra and Zalla rivers were heavily composted. But people believed that the mysterious light belonged to an entirely different order of things from the will o' the wisp, and attributable to a different cause.

The will o' the wisp, they argued, was bluish or greenish, not very luminous and moving along the ground, occurring only on hot summer nights after heavy rains. They mysterious light of La Llanada, on the other hand, was reddish, highly luminous, moving rather high off the ground and with the characteristic of being spherical, issuing smaller, paler tongues of flame.

Naturally, the event gave rise to all sorts of talk and assumptions, resurrecting nearly forgotten legends about witches, elves, wandering spirits, filling local residents with fear, according to the paper.

On March 14, 1897 the same newspaper published another story on the phenomenon. "The mysterious light continues to attract the interest of the residents of Victoria, a light whose existence we reported in Thursday's issue. Many have visited, or intend to visit, the places where it appears. The place where it has been seen the most, as we have said, is the area between Antezana and Yurre. Its initial manifestation has been noted as being at the fountain of Lopidana.

With further details about the strange phenomenon, we may add that it isn't a single light. On some nights, many were seen in different localities, either in meadows or deep in forests. The journalist then delves into the realm of the fantastic: 'Beside the verdant plain, used by residents of Victoria so often for their picnics, there grows an herb called 'la loca' - an enchanted weed - that sorely distresses anyone stepping on it. The unhappy man who returns by night from Gobeo or another town, and who steps on the enchanted plant, will spin around it over and over, and despite his best efforts to break away, will be unable to do so until the cock crows in Lopidana, and the cliff of Amboto is tinted with the pale hues of dawn."

The newspaper reports popular suppositions: Popular fantasy, unable to find a satisfactory explanation to the phenomenon, has taken flight and given rise to legends. The mysterious light, it is said, is a lost soul allowed to exit purgatory by the grace of God to seek prayers that will speed its entrance into the mansions of eternal bliss.

On one occasion it was visible from the Tower of San Miguel. On March 17, a group formed by some 200 people, beheld a bright white light over the houses as they stood at Calle de la Estacion, near the Hotel Quintanilla. It was looked upon with admiration in the belief that it was the famous and enigmatic "Light of Antezana". Day after day, the newspaper kept feeding the mysterious phenomenon with new accounts aimed at explaining the mysterious glow.

A final news item on the mysterious light appeared on March 27, telling us the following: "The strange Antezana phenomenon, made known far and wide by the local press and that of Madrid and the provinces, is resistant to any explanation that will satisfy troublesome curiosity. As to its cause, you will recall that we said in early numbers that its probable origin was most likely emanations of phosphorated hydrogen appearing in swamps and cemeteries, and more commonly known as the will o' the wisp.
